NEPA's Fair Trade Organic Coffee Roaster

EspressOlympics

We’re going to be pulling about a billion shots of espresso tonight as we tune up the new machine and grinder.. I’ve got two pounds of an SO-Spro to slay the night with, so if you read this today, and are in Scranton tonight, stop by the vintage and flex your caffeine tolerance (or not) , for it will flow like the waters. Yell at the cell or gratefulroast@gmail.com if you need directions.

New Cafe in Mtn. Top PA to offer Grateful Roast Coffee

Zage Bakery and Cafe, located at 14 S Mountain Blvd in Mountain Top Pennsylvania, will be offering Grateful Roast Coffee via Drip and Whole Bean for take-home use, and plan to acquire an espresso machine within the coming months.

The owners are very down to earth people and eager to step up their coffee game to match their superior baked goods selections. We expect nothing but good from them in the months to come.

They are scheduled to open their doors to customers this weekend with a Grand Opening in the weeks to follow, so if you are in the area, be sure to swing through and show some support.

Keeping with our Progress before Profit business model, Grateful Roast is honored to announce it’s partnership with Seva (pronounced say-va). If you are unfamiliar with Seva, please take a few moments to browse their website. The foundation was created with one goal; to serve the marginalized . Their mission is universal, and their hearts are all-encompassing. Grateful Roast will actively sell coffee on their behalf, and donate 25% of every “Coffee for Seva” sale to the foundation. When you purchase a pound of coffee 25% of every dollar is returned into the world on Seva’s behalf. Coffee is a vehicle for service, and we hope you will join us in the trip!

The Vintage Theater and Scranton Rhythm Cafe

I met some amazing people last week who are opening up an amazing cafe in an amazing building in downtown Scranton. How do I know its an amazing cafe? They showed me… trust me, its amazing. This cafe is the result in a union of The Vintage Theater and Scranton Rhythm. They’ve got some awesome things going, from floor seating, a huge stage with bay windows overlooking the street, recessed lighting, art exhibits… ok.. I’m not saying any more.. you’ll just have to stop in and see for yourself….

And while you’re there, be sure to pick up a cup of Grateful Roast Coffee! They’ve decided to feature our coffee, and we couldnt be more honored! Not only are they passionate about coffee, but also passionate about making positive waves in the ocean of humanity! And I couldnt be more passionate about providing them with our best coffees.

In light of our recent marriage, I’ve created Scranton Rhythm a unique house blend that will only be available at their cafe. It’s a melange blend for an anytime, sweet, deep, complex in body yet easy on the palate.

In addition, they will be carrying a Grateful Roast Espresso Blend and a rotating Single Origin.. and oh yes…. a decaf.

Be sure to visit The Scranton Rhythm and The Vintage Theater to keep updated on the opening, hours of operation and events.

Soberfest 2009 was Smashing!

Well.. the Soberfest was awesome! People really liked the coffee.. so much so that we had to close down for 10 minutes TWICE to catch up and full the pots.. we couldnt keep the coffee long enough to NOT shut down.. and that tells me two things.. One: I need a bigger coffee maker, and Two: I need a bigger coffee maker.

I didnt want to announce it until I have all the paperwork out of the way and its 100% official, but anyone who knows me, knows that I need to speak my mind when there is something of relevance weighing on it, and also there are maybe all of three people who will check this blog between now and then, so it really isnt an official “announcement” lol… We were asked to come back for the Luzerne County Fair!!! They have over 50,000 attendees at the fair per year, and if the SCAA Coffee Statistics hold true, that means there will be over 25,001 people over the course of 5 days that are going to need a cup of coffee… I couldnt have asked for a better opportunity for exposure! I am forever Grateful and hope this is only a sign of things to come!

Gratefuly Yours,

Brian

New Sumatra is in..

After working with it a bit, I came to the conclusion that my broker was right.. this is a bean that is very capable of handling an exposing light roast while still harnessing that Sumatran character when roasted dark… not only am I excited to have an Indo back in stock, but so are the people who have already put a dent in it.
